For The People - Introduction

Welcome to For the People. Here, you will find a series of voice chat rooms.

A voice chat is just that, where we can actually talk to one another. You will need a sound card and a microphone. You will also need Internet Explorer version 5 or higher. You can download it from Microsoft.com if you don't have it.

Before you can participate in a voice chat, you must join. Do this by clicking on the "Join" link from the home page. You will be given a form to fill out, it is short and simple. When you submit the form, you will be emailed your new user ID and password.

When you click on the "Chat Rooms" link, you will be asked for your user ID and password, enter them exactly as you received them in the mail, all in lowercase, no spaces. After the password, if you hit a tab, you will be presented with a check box that you may check so your computer automatically remembers your password.

You will see, after entering your user ID and password that there are any number of chat rooms. You may pick the one that interests you. When agreeing to meet a friend here, it is good to specify a room, so you won't spend an hour looking for them in every room.

The rooms that include the word "adult" in their description may contain material unsuitable for children or persons under 18 years of age. Those that do not use the word "adult" are for general, family style discussions that do not contain any adult material. We ask that you respect these guidelines.

The idea of For the People is to bring people together. We hope that you will have a rich and varied experience in our chat rooms and that you will want to tell your friends about us.

If this is your first time using this voice chat, or any other, when you try to enter a room, the voice chat software, provided by Simple Software will be loaded into your computer. You may be asked to agree to a license agreement, this is merely an agreement that you will not sell the software to anyone, you can agree with this.

After entering a chat room, you simply press and hold down the left control key when you wish to talk. An audible beep will tell you that you have the floor. When you are finished talking, let go of the control key. It's that simple!

All of us at For-The-People hope you enjoy visiting our site. We invite you to come back often.
